Men's Basketball Falls In USCAA Semifinals 73-59 To Tennessee Temple

ON THE COURT: Junior Johnnie Ferebee scored 17 points for the Apprentice School on Thursday night as they fell in the USCAA Men's Division I National Semifinals to Tennessee Temple 73-59.  The Builders closed their season with a 16-10 record.

Apprentice School struggled from the field hitting 21-of-74 (28.4%) and fell victim to a 14-3 run over the final 5:54 of the first half as the Crusaders took a 45-27 lead into the locker room following a Ferebee free throw with four seconds left in the half.

In the second half, the Builders cut that deficit to nine points on three occasions as a Jamal Curry layup with 1:52 left brought them to 67-58 but that was as close as they could get.

BEHIND THE BOXSCORE

  • Jay Melendez and Lavontae Thomas were next in scoring with eight points each.
  • Melendez was the leading rebounder in the game for the Builders with 12.
