IN BRIEF: Jamal Curry and Tony Walton paced five in double figures with 17 points apiece as they lost 98-90 to Berkeley College in the final day of the Berkeley College Classic Sunday morning.


ON THE COURT

  • A tightly contested first half saw the teams tie four times in the first 11 minutes as a DeAndre Demiel jumper with nine minutes left evened the score at 26-all.
  • From that point, the Builders went on a 25-4 run over the next 6:09 as a Jay Melendez 3-pointer gave the Builders a 51-30 lead with 2:51 left in the half.
  • In the second half, the Builders held an 11-point lead with 13:14 left as Dante Johnson converted a 3-point play for a 65-54 lead.
  • Berkeley took its first lead of the second half on a Massiah Merritt layup with 7:13 left for a 77-75 advantage.  That lead grew to the final margin of eight points on four occasions over the last seven minutes.

BEHIND THE BOXSCORE

  • Curry had 17 points, 12 rebounds and five blocked shots, while Walton added 17 points going 6-for-6 from the floor to lead the Builders.
  • Johnson had a career-high 13 points off the bench while Melendez chipped in with 12 points and Demiel added 11 points, six rebounds and four assists.
  • Berkeley was paced by Kenton Chan-Man with 31 points, Keenan Langston with 27 and 11 rebounds while Merritt added 19.
