Weekend Preview - Jan. 24-26

The men's basketball team hits the home hardwood this weekend for a pair of United States Collegiate Athletic Association contests.

On Saturday at 6 pm, they'll face the Sabers of Barber-Scotia College in the first of two meetings with them.  Barber-Scotia enters with a 4-17 record after losing to Denmark Tech on Thursday night.  Freshman Ryan Atkins leads five in double figures averaging 25 points per game and a team-high 7.8 rebounds per contest.

On Sunday, the Builders return to action facing USCAA Division II fourth-ranked Central Penn College in the first-ever meeting with the Knights.  They're currently 9-7, with a game at Mid-Atlantic Christian University in Elizabeth City on Saturday, but have played a very strong schedule with five of their seven losses coming against NCAA Division I opponents.  Devon Dorsey leads them in scoring (22.4 ppg) and rebounding (10.8 rpg) as they've averaged almost 90 points per game.

The men will then head to Elizabeth City, NC to face Mid-Atlantic Christian University in an 8 pm tip on Tuesday night.  Both games this weekend and Tuesday night in Elizabeth City will have live stats.

The wrestling team is in action this weekend in Dalton, Georgia at the 2015 National Collegiate Wrestling Association National Duals.  The Builders are the third-seeded team in the 22-team field as they'll have three matches on Friday and three more on Saturday.

This afternoon they'll face East Tennessee State University at 2 pm and then will follow with a match against the University of North Texas at 4 pm.  A win against North Texas will put them into the round of 16 at 6 pm.

The first two matches for the Builders in this event will use the Optional Scoring System where team scores are combined from the final match scores.  If a wrestler wins 12-7, the team score is 12-7.  Forfeits are 16 points, falls are 15 points and tech fall wins can count anywhere from 10-15 points.
