FINAL SCORE: Apprentice School 96, Mid-Atlantic Christian 67

IN BRIEF: A 23-9 run in the first five minutes of the second half helped lead the Apprentice School to a 96-67 win over Mid-Atlantic Christian University on Tuesday night.

ON THE COURT

• The Apprentice School never trailed in the contest, but had the score tied twice.  A Tony Walton jumper with 13:45 left put them up 8-2. MACU went on an 11-5 run to tie the game at 13-all on a pair of Will Artis free throws with 10:06 left.
• After each team traded free throws, the Builders used a Lance Darden 3-pointer with 3:37 left to cap a 16-6 run to lead 30-20 with 3:37 left.  The Mustangs trimmed it to 30-28 as David Barron hit one of two from the foul line with 2:01 remaining in the half.
• Holding a 34-30 lead to start the second half, the Builders erupted on a 23-9 run in the first five minutes as a Johnnie Ferebee jumper with 14:37 left put them ahead 57-39. 
• Following a layup from Joseph Hill with 13:39 left, the Builders scored 10 points in the next 46 seconds as a Dante Johnson layup with 12:53 left put them ahead 67-41.  The lead never shrunk under 20 points from there.

BEHIND THE BOXSCORE

• The Builders ended the game hitting 50.6% from the floor (42-of-83) and rode a 27-of-47 (57.4%) second half to score a season high 62 points in the second half.  They were 7-of-20 from 3-point land (35%) and 5-of-9 from the line (55.6%).  Apprentice School was outrebounded 46-43 and turned the ball over 18 times.
• Walton topped four In double figures for the Builders with 16 points.  Jay Melendez scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half and had a team-high eight rebounds.  Darden added 13 and Johnson scored 12 with a career-high eight assists.
• MACU was headed by Barron with 17 points, Artis had 13 and seven assists and Marquice Sims had 12 and 10 rebounds.  The Mustangs were 21-of-63 from the floor (33.3%), 7-of-23 from 3-point range (30.4%) and 18-of-22 from the foul line (81.8%).  They were hampered by 33 turnovers.
