IN BRIEF: In a game where the Builders only had a lead for barely three minutes, a Tony Walton layup with 1:26 left gave the hosts a lead to stay as they defeated Washington Adventist 74-71 on Senior Day.

ON THE COURT

• The Builders opened the game quickly as buckets from Zach Zastrow, Walton and Jamal Curry helped give the hosts a 6-3 lead with 18:37 left on a Curry jumper.
• Washington Adventist tied the game with 18:18 left on a John Grant 3-pointer and went on 23-9 run to take a 26-15 lead on a 3-pointer from Charles Allen with 7:24 left.
• Apprentice School made a run and used a Johnnie Ferebee jumper with 4:29 left to cap a 10-1 run to get the deficit down to 27-25.
• In the second half, the Shock used an early flurry to push the advantage to 50-38 on a pair of Grant free throws with 15:40 left.   The lead stayed in the neighborhood of double digits until as late as 7:27 left when Martin Wilson's jumper gave the Shock a 66-56 advantage.
• The Builders went on a 17-2 run as a pair of Jay Melendez free throws with 10 seconds left gave them a 73-68 lead.  Walton had hit a couple layups, the first giving them a 69-68 lead with 1:26 left for their first lead since 6-3.  His second with 32 seconds left put them up 71-68.
• Allen drained a 3-pointer with seven seconds left to trim the margin to 73-71, but a Ferebee free throw with six seconds left gave the hosts a win over the defending USCAA National Champions.

BEHIND THE BOXSCORE

• Melendez was the leading scorer for the Builders with 20 points, while Walton added 16 and Cameron Perry with 11 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals.
• The Builders were 26-of-70 from the floor (37.1%), 3-of-13 from 3-point land (23.1%) and 19-of-25 from the line (76%).
• Washington Adventist was topped by a pair of double-doubles from Eric Lindsey (22 pts-12 reb) and Grant (17 pts-13 reb). 
• They were 27-of-67 from the floor (40.3%), 7-of-26 from 3-point land (26.9%) and 10-of-16 from the line (62.5%).  The Shock outrebounded Apprentice School 52-40, while committing 25 turnovers to 14 for the Builders.
