Apprentice School junior Jay Melendez added a little hardware on Tuesday afternoon as he won the men's 3-point shooting contest at the 2015 United States Collegiate Athletic Association Nationals held at Penn State Fayette.

In the 14-man field, Melendez scored nine points in the opening round to make it to the five-person semifinals in a tie for fourth place.  During the semifinals he caught fire and sizzled his way to a top score of 18 points.

In the finals against Iowa Wesleyan, he hit a couple shots in the final rack to pull out a 14-13 win.
