Builders Fall to NC Wesleyan 87-72

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Apprentice School men's basketball team had four players score in double figures but suffered an 87-72 setback to North Carolina Wesleyan on Friday night as part of the Roger Taylor Invitational.

ON THE COURT:

The Builders controlled the majority of the first half having a 15-point lead at the break until NC Wesleyan closed the gap to a three-point deficit after the first half. The Buiilders shot 44% and were led by Drew Walton's 10 points. In the first couple minutes of the half, the Battling Bishops broke a 41-41 tie with a pair of free throws and the Builders were unable to regain the lead for the remainder of the game. NC Wesleyan shot 62% from the field and held the Builders to 30% in the final 20 minutes.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:

  • Drew Walton led the Builders with 20 points and six rebounds, which snapped a streak of four consecutive double-doubles.
  • Marion Moore added 12 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double.
  • Sam Morris hit a trio of three-pointers along with his 12 points and Corey Joyner scored 10 points.
  • The Builders handled the ball well offensively by only having six turnovers. They forced eight turnovers and scored 11 points off the turnovers.

UP NEXT:

The Builders will face Southern Virginia on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. to conclude the Roger Taylor Invitational hosted by NC Wesleyan. Southern Virginia enters the game with a 2-4 record after defeating Mid-Atlantic Christian 99-75 in the first game of the Roger Taylor Invitational.
