Builders Drop Road Contest

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Apprentice School men's basketball fell in a road conference matchup against Johnson & Wales 94-72 on Friday afternoon.

ON THE COURT: The Builders shot 43% from the floor in the first half but trailed by two at the break primarily because of the Wildcats' eight made three-pointers. Drew Walton led the Builders with 10 points and had seven rebounds in the first stanza. Out of the second half, the Wildcats had more success inside the arc as they shot 57% from the floor and held the Builders to 34% as they pulled away for the victory.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:

  • Drew Walton led the Builders with 21 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double.
  • Corey Joyner contributed 13 points for the Builders
  • Marion Moore added a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards.
  • The Builders forced 14 turnovers and only had 11 miscues of their own.
  • The Apprentice School also held a slight edge in the paint with a 46-44 advantage.

The Builders return to action on Saturday afternoon as they face Clinton in a conference matchup. The two teams met earlier in the season with Clinton pulling away late in the game for a 99-95 victory. Brandon Joyner had a career-high 36 points with nine three-pointers, which tied a school record, off the bench for the Builders.
