Smith and Joyner help Builders end season on High Note

Petersburg, VA – In their final game of the USCAA National Tournament and of the 2021-2022 season, the Apprentice Men's Basketball team went out on a positive note, defeating Manor College by a final score of 86-71.  After falling in the first round yesterday, the Builders were determined to send their leader and lone Senior, Corey Joyner, out with the win and they did just that.

The Builders wasted no time running out to a large lead in the first half, as they broke a 16-16 tie to take a double-digit advantage, 34-21.  As he did yesterday, Karree Smith continued to show why he is one of the best freshmen in the USCAA by leading his team on the offensive end of the court.  Smith's play allowed his team to take a commanding lead into the locker room, 55-31.  While Manor was able to outscore Apprentice in the second half, Coach Kee's team, did what they have done all year, making the defensive stops when they needed to, which allowed them to control the tempo and come away with the win.

Smith led all scorers with 24 points, while Jayden Eason grabbed a total of 8 rebounds.  Corey Joyner finished his career scoring 12 points and dishing out 4 assists.  He will leave the program as a 1,000-point scorer and the all-time single game assist record holder for the Builders.  His commitment and dedication to the Apprentice Men's Basketball Program will be truly missed but it will be remembered for many years to come.
