Eley Earns NSAC Player of the Year; Highlights Men's Basketball All-Conference Accolades

NEWPORT NEWS - The Apprentice School's Shawn Eley was named the New South Athletic Conference men's basketball Player of the Year Monday afternoon, highlighting four All-Conference award winners for the Builders.

Eley elevated his game when it came to NSAC opponents. He averaged 15 points per game overall and 7.4 rebounds, but in New South contests, he turned it up, averaging 17.4 points and nine boards per contest. He also averaged 53.4 percent from the field and was named first team All-Conference.

Karree Smith was named to the second team after averaging 12.5 points per outing. He has 20 games this year where he has scored in double figures, including three straight and seven of the past 10.

Two Builders earned honorable mention status as Adrion Wall and Jayden Eason represented Apprentice on the list.

The Builders will await their semifinal opponent to make themselves known and will next take to the floor Saturday at 4 p.m. in Newport News.
