Builder Golfers Win Apprentice Fall Fling

HAMPTON, Va. - The Apprentice School golf team captured the team title on Friday as they hosted the Apprentice Fall Fling at The Woodlands in Hampton.

This marks the first tournament victory for head coach Joey Maben as the Builders carded a 218 in the event where the low three scores for each team were counted.  Chowan University was second with a 221, followed by Virginia Wesleyan College at 242 and Apprentice School Gold was fourth at 249.

The win for the Builders avenged a loss two weeks ago in the Builder Fall Invite to the same Chowan Hawks.

Junior Wade Traynham was the low man for the Builders on Friday as he carded a one-over-par-70 over the 5,900 yard course.  He was second in the event behind Cliff Forbes of Chowan University who recorded an even-par 69.

Next in line for the Builders was senior Ryan Sweet at 73, followed by freshman Michael Hastings (75) and sophomore Kyle Radcliff (76).  Low on the gold team was junior Nick Carlson (78), followed by sophomore Joseph Saunders (79).

The Builders hit the golf course again on Monday as they participate in the Hampden-Sydney Invitational in Farmville.
