Traynham, Center Named USCAA All-Academic Golf Team

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- The 2010 U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association Golf All-Academic Team was announced on Tuesday at the national championships held at the Penn State University Blue Course and two Apprentice School golfers were named to the team.

Seniors Kyle Center and Wade Traynham were honored for their achievement in the classroom, on the job as well as on the golf course by being named to the USCAA All-Academic team.  To be honored, you must be at least a sophomore with a 3.5 grade point average or higher.

Center, a marine design apprentice from Gloucester, joined the golf team last year and currently averages an 89 per round.  His low round this year was an 83 at the Apprentice Fall Invitational on September 24.  Center was a two-time USCAA Academic All-American while he was a member of the baseball team in 2008 and 2009.

Traynham, a machinist apprentice from Chesapeake, currently ranks in the top ten in the USCAA in scoring average at 78.  He shares the low round of the fall with a 69 at the Apprentice Fall Invitational and has finished in the top five in four events thus far in the fall.
