Golf Team Finishes Third At USCAA Nationals - Hunter Wins Individual Medalist Title

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The Apprentice School shot a combined 327 round on Tuesday at the 2010 U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association National Championships to finish third in the 14-team event with a 639 total.  Rochester College defended their 2009 title winning the event by 12 strokes over Lindenwood-Belleville and 14 over the Builders.

Freshman Ben Hunter ran away with the medalist honor carding a two-over-par-74 on Tuesday to finish the event at even-par 144.  Hunter won the event by seven strokes and became the second USCAA Individual National Champion in school history behind Steven Ness in 2006.  His 144 two-day total ties the low two-round record with current assistant coach B.J. Maben.

Senior Wade Traynham was next in line for the Builders finishing in a tie for eighth place after an 82 on Tuesday for a 156 total.  Fellow senior Daniel Campbell was next with an 85 on Tuesday for a tournament total 163.

The Builders will close out the fall season at the Tom O'Briant Memorial hosted by Guilford College on October 25-26.
