Golfers Sit Ninth After Round One of HSC Invitational

FARMVILLE, VA. – Freshman Kyle Mutter was low man for the Apprentice School golf team on Monday with a 75 as the Builders shot a 328 to sit ninth after round one of the Hampden-Sydney Invitational at The Manor Golf Course.

Sophomore Ben Hunter was the next lowest with a 79, followed by sophomore Will Smith (84), junior Blake Henger (90) and senior Kyle Radcliff (94) to round out the Builders scoring on the 6,675-yard, par-72 course.  Mutter is in a tie for eighth individually, while Hunter is tied for 25th.

The host Hampden-Sydney Tigers hold the team lead with a 292, followed by Averett (304), Roanoke (305) and Ferrum (306).  Rick O'Connell of the Tigers leads the medalist race as he fired a four-under-par 68 to lead by a stroke over Trevor Banks of Virginia Intermont.

The final round of the tournament will start early Tuesday morning.
