Golfers Finish Ninth At Hampden-Sydney Invitational

FARMVILLE, VA. – The Apprentice School golf team took two strokes off its Monday first round total but still finished in ninth place at the Hampden-Sydney Invitational held at The Manor Golf course in Farmville on Tuesday.

Sophomore Ben Hunter topped the final day scores with a two-under-par 70, which was the lowest second round score of the tournament, to finish in a tie for fifth place at 149.  Senior Kyle Radcliff was next in line for the Builders with an 82, followed by freshman Kyle Mutter with an 85 and sophomore Will Smith with an 89 to make up the 326 team total.

The Builders finished with a 654 two-day total just trailing Virginia Wesleyan (653) and Lynchburg College (652).  Tournament host Hampden-Sydney College won the event with a 596 total to lead Ferrum College (612) and Averett University (613).  Medalist was won by Trevor Banks of Virginia Intermont College with a 74 on Tuesday for a one-under-par 143 total.

Apprentice School will now participate in the Ted Keller Invitational hosted by Randolph-Macon College on October 1-2 in Ashland, Va.
