Golf Team Sits Fourth Through Day One At USCAA Nationals

STATE COLLEGE, PA. -- Through one round of the 2011 U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association Golf National Championships in State College, Pa., the Apprentice School golf team sits fourth place out of 15 teams with a 316 score on Monday.

The tournament is being held at the Penn State University Blue Course in State College, Pa. and the two-time champion Rochester College holds the lead at 302 followed closely by Lindenwood-Belleville at 303.  Sitting in third place at 312 is New Hampshire Technical Institute, just four strokes ahead of the Builders.

Sophomore Ben Hunter and freshman Kyle Mutter are in the hunt for medalist honors as they shot a 73 and 74 respectively over the 7,228-yard, par-72 course.  The medalist leader is at even-par 72 from Rochester College and Southern Maine Community College.  Sophomore Will Smith (82) and senior Kyle Radcliff (87) are the other counting scorers for the Builders.

15 teams and 100 entries comprise the 2011 USCAA Nationals with the final round to start at 9 am on Tuesday.
