Golf Team Takes Second At Builder Spring Fling #2

HAMPTON, VA. – The Apprentice School golf team shot the fourth lowest round since 1997 as they combined for a 298 and finished second in the Builder Spring Fling #2 at The Woodlands on Friday.

Louisburg College won the event with a nine-over-par 285, followed by the Builders (298), Chowan University (308), Va. Wesleyan (321), Surry CC (326) and Apprentice School Gold (337).  The Friday round was the lowest for the team since September 24, 2010 when they shot a school-record low 285 at the Apprentice Fall Invitational also at The Woodlands.

Seth Nagle of Louisburg won the medalist honor with a four-under-par 65 over the 5,391-yard course.  Sophomore Ben Hunter was next with a one-over-par 70 for the Builders.  The next low-man for the Builders was sophomore Kyle Mutter who was in a tie for eighth with a 74. Leading Apprentice School Gold was Michael Hastings who came in with a 73 to tie for sixth place.

Next up for the Builders will be the Glenn Heath Memorial Shipbuilders Tournament on April 9-10 at Williamsburg National Golf Course.
