Golf Team Sits Third After Day One Of Glenn Heath Shipbuilders Memorial

WILLIAMSBURG, VA. -- The Apprentice School golf team sits in third place after day one of its annual Glenn Heath Shipbuilders Memorial Tournament held at Williamsburg Club on Monday.

Lynchburg College leads the nine-team event with a 311 score over the par-71, 6,791-yard Williamsburg Club course.  Ferrum College is second at 317, followed by the Builders (330), Randolph-Macon College (331) and Louisburg College (334).

The Hornets have the top two individual finishers after day one with Conrad and Santi Anguera leading the 45-person field with 74 and 75 respectively.  Ferrum's Scott Obenshain is third at 76 while a three-way tie at fourth contains Apprentice School's Ben Hunter at 78.

Kyle Mutter is the next in line for the Builders at an 81 to sit in a three-way tie for tenth place.  The top 18 finishers will receive flags after the final round of the tournament on Tuesday.

The Builders put a second team into the tournament and they shot a combined 385 to sit ninth in the field.  Freshman Curtis Newsome leads that team with a 93, followed by fellow freshman Forrest Barefoot and sophomore Les White at 94.

Tuesday's final round will be a shotgun start at 9 am.
