Golf Team Rallies For Second At Shenandoah Invitational

WINCHESTER, VA. -- The Apprentice School golf team rallied on Monday to card a 310 team total in the final round of the Shenandoah Invitational to finish second in the event held at Winchester Country Club.

Junior Ben Hunter finished tied for second individually after recording a four-over-par 76 on Monday to record a 149 total for the tournament.  John Dozier of Virginia Wesleyan was the medalist in the event after a 75 on Monday for a 148 total.

Sophomore Kyle Mutter finished fourth individually with a Monday low round of one-over-par 73 for the Builders to total a 151.   He was two strokes behind Hunter and Scott Hellmuth of Randolph-Macon for second.

Freshmen Harrison Baker (80) and Eric Johnston (81) were the other scorers for the Builders who navigated a windy 6,806-yard Winchester Country Club course.

Randolph-Macon College won the event with a 609 total (305-304), followed by the Builders at 640 (330-310), Virginia Wesleyan College at 646 (323-323), Shenandoah University A at 652 (323-329) and Shenandoah B at 691 (346-345).

The Builders will now travel to Bridgewater, Va. for the Tom Kinder Memorial hosted by Bridgewater College on September 16-17.  This tournament is expected to have plenty of strong NCAA Division III opposition for the Builders.
