Golf Team Sixth After Day One Of VSGA State Intercollegiate

DANVILLE, VA. -- The Apprentice School golf team currently sits in sixth place after day one of the Virginia State Golf Association Intercollegiate Championships at Danville Golf Club on Saturday.

Junior Ben Hunter is in the mix for the medalist honors of the tournament as he sits alone in second place with a two-over-par 72 on the 6,235-yard course.  He trails John Dozier, III of Virginia Wesleyan who leads with a two-under-par 68.

Sophomore Kyle Mutter is next in a tie for 15th place with a six-over-par 76, while Michael Hastings (80) and Harrison Baker (85) round out the counting scorers for the Builders 313 on Saturday.

Host Averett College leads the event with a 295 total, followed by Ferrum College (300), Bridgewater College (303), Randolph-Macon College (304) and Hampden-Sydney College (308) to round out the top five.

The final round of the event will tee-off Sunday morning at 9 am.
