STATE COLLEGE, PA. -- The Apprentice School golf team closed out its fall season on Tuesday with a fourth place finish at the 2012 U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association National Championships held at Penn State University Blue Course. The Builders shot a 307 round to finish at 636 and in fourth place in the 19-team field.

Junior Ben Hunter and sophomore Kyle Mutter finished second and fourth respectively to repeat at USCAA All-Americans.  Hunter shot a 70 on Tuesday to vault up to second place individually with a 147 total.  He was three strokes behind tournament winner Kyle Kapturowski of team winner Daemen College.  Mutter shot a 76 on Tuesday to finish alone in fourth place with a 151 total.  This marks the second USCAA All-American honor for Mutter and the third for Hunter.

Sophomore Eric Johnston came to life on Tuesday and shot a 75 to finish in a tie for 45th place at 170, while freshman Harrison Baker shot an 86 to finish tied for 54th with a 173 to round out the Builder scorers on day two. 

Other competitors for the Builders included Mike Hastings who shot an 88 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 71st at 180 and Blake Henger who carded a 95 to finish alone in 80th at 185.

Daemen College won the event with a 301 Tuesday round for a 605 total.  They pulled away from 2011 USCAA Champion Lindenwood-Belleville who shot a 305 on Tuesday to finish at 620.  Coming in third place was NHTI who shot a 310 on Tuesday to finish at 629 and seven strokes ahead of the Builders.  Rounding out the top five was 2010 USCAA Champion Rochester College who matched its Monday 321 total on Tuesday to finish at 642.

At the post-event banquet, the USCAA All-Academic team was announced and sophomore Kyle Mutter made the academic honor team.  To earn the award, you must be at least a sophomore and carry a minimum of a 3.5 grade point average.
