The Apprentice School Athletic Club sponsored its eighth annual F. Farrell Sanders Builder Backer Classic on June 14 at Cypress Creek Golfers Club in Smithfield. It was a windy afternoon on the links, but rain held off and 24 teams participated in the event.
Winning the event with a 14-under-par round of 57 were Scott Stabler, Geoff Clark, Jeff Morris and Dan Morris. Beth Matsdee, Don Doverspike, Mary White and Will Prescott all won awards for the Closest to the Pin and Long Drives respectively.
With the help of excellent raffle prizes and silent auction items, the tournament raised over $6,000 for the Apprentice Athletic Club. It is annually the largest single fundraiser for the club.
