Golfers Finish Second At Soggy Don Scalf Invitational

IN BRIEF: The Apprentice School golf team took second place in the five-team Don Scalf Invitational hosted by N.C. Wesleyan College on Monday afternoon.  Kyle Mutter was the low finisher for the Builders coming in second with a 151 total.

ON THE COURSE

  • Senior Kyle Mutter took second place individual honors for the Builders as he finished with a two-over-par 74 for a two-day 151 total.  He was two shots off the medalist winner Lucas Norman from N.C. Wesleyan who carded a 74-75-149 score.
  • Eric Johnston was the next in line for the Builders as he was consistent both days carding rounds of 80 for a two-day 160 total.
  • Senior Ben Hunter was next with an 80 on Sunday and an 83 on Monday for a two-day 163 total. 
  • Freshman Austin Robbins rounded out the scoring Builders for the tournament with a 91 on Sunday and an 89 on Monday for a two-day 180 total.
  • The host N.C. Wesleyan Bishops took the team honor with a 315 on Monday for a two-day 621 total on a rainy and cold Belmont Golf Club course.  After the Builders who came in with a 654 total were Johnston CC (682), William Peace (763) and Marymount (804).


NEXT UP - Lynchburg Invitational

The golf team will hit the road again this weekend participating in the Lynchburg College Invitational on Sunday and Monday in Forest, Virginia.
