Golf Team Finishes Ninth At Shenandoah

IN BRIEF: The golf team finished the 2014 Shenandoah University Invitational on Sunday with a final round 323 total to come in ninth with a 642 tournament score.

ON THE COURSE

  • Senior Kyle Mutter shared low round honors for the Builders on Sunday with freshman Tim Moore as each shot six-over-par 77. 
  • Mutter was the low man for the Builders in the event with a two-day total of 151, while Moore rebounded on Sunday to finish with a 167.
  • Freshman Perry Barber shot 83 on Sunday to finish second for the Builders with a 158 tournament total.
  • Fellow freshman Phillip Nelson shot 86 on Sunday to end his first collegiate tournament with a 169 total.
  • Sophomore Chris Davis carded a 90 on Sunday to finish the weekend with a 179 total.
  • Roanoke College shot a blistering one-over-par 285 on Sunday to come from 14 shots off the lead to win the event with a tournament total 588.  First-round leader Shepherd College was second after a 300 total on Sunday to finish one stroke off at 589.


NEXT UP

The Builders will now head to Laurel Fork, VA. to participate in the 2014 Virginia State Intercollegiate Championships to be held September 28-29 at Olde Mill Resort.
