Solid First Round Puts Builders In Contention At Lynchburg Invitational

IN BRIEF: The Apprentice School golf team started a busy week with a 320 round in the first day of the Lynchburg College Invitational in Amherst.

ON THE COURSE

  • The Builders are starting a two-tournament week with their annual participation in the Lynchburg College Invitational.  This year its being played at a Sam Snead designed course - Poplar Grove Golf Course in Amherst.
  • Freshman Will Hunter is the low man for the Builders with a four-over-par 76 to lead the Builders.  Fellow freshman Perry Barber and junior Chris Davis are next in line with 80 apiece.  Rounding out the counting scorers for the 320 team total was freshman Phillip Nelson with an 84.  
  • Tim Moore rounded out the team scorers with an 85, while Forrest Barefoot competed as an individual and came in with an 88.


TEAM STANDINGS

With one team score not reported, the B team of Christopher Newport University (297) leads the field with Bluefield State University (311) and Washington & Lee University B team (318) just ahead of the Builders. SUNY Delhi and the hosts Hornets (324) are tied for fifth in the ten-team field.
