Golf Team Finished 11th At Roanoke Invitational

IN BRIEF: On a day where most all scores increased as teams fought winds of 30-40 mph, the Builders remained in 11th place to finish the Roanoke Invitational on Saturday.

ON THE COURSE

  • Perry Barber finished as the low man for the Builders on Saturday as he came in a tie for 46th place after a 92 for a two-day 178.
  • Tim Moore was next after a 95 on Saturday put him in a tie for 60th with a 181 total.
  • Phillip Nelson came in with a 92 on Saturday to finish with a 182 total and 53rd place.
  • Chris Davis shot a 96 to end at 189 and alone in 59th place, while Forrest Barefoot was alone in 61st with a 192.

TEAM RACE

On a tough day where 13 of the 14 teams saw their scores increase at least nine strokes and more were at least 15 shots higher, the Builders shot 375 on Saturday to finish with a two-day 729 total.

Ferrum College won the team title with a 615 score after a 317 round Saturday.  Hampden-Sydney College rallied to card a 321 on Saturday for a 633 total.  Rounding out the top five were Averett University (332-647), Randolph-Macon College (358-657) and Bridgewater College (346-661).

FINAL EVENT

The Builders will close out their spring season on Apr. 13-14 with the Glenn Heath Memorial Shipbuilders Tournament at Williamsburg Club.
