LONG ISLAND, NY - Freshman Valleri West scored a season-best 16 points as the Apprentice School fell 59-42 on Sunday at Briarcliffe College in a U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association matchup.

A tight first half saw the teams tied six times.  Apprentice School (7-10) held an 18-15 advantage on a Jasmine Gerald layup with 5:28 left before the host Seahawks closed the half scoring the next 16 points for a 31-18 halftime advantage.

In the second half, the Lady Builders cut the deficit to 10 as West scored the first three points of the second half with a free throw and a bucket with 17:58 left.  Briarcliffe then responded with a 16-3 run over the next five minutes for a 47-24 lead on a 3-pointer from Michelle Bauerschmidt with 12:56 left.

Apprentice School will next see action on Saturday at 2 pm with a rematch against Lincoln University.
