LEXINGTON, VA. - Junior Rahshann Lewter scored 18 points and freshman Jasmine Gerald scored 12 coming off the bench as the Apprentice School rallied from an 11-point second half deficit for a 56-51 victory at Washington & Lee University on Thursday night.
The first half saw the host Generals take their biggest lead on a Kara Nadeau layup with 3:44 left for a 17-10 advantage. The Lady Builders closed the half on a 10-3 run capped by a Gerald 3-pointer with two seconds left for a 20-all score.
In the second half the hosts raced out scoring 14 of the first 17 points in the half for a 34-23 lead on a Kristin Krouchick 3-pointer with 16:25 left. Apprentice School rallied to tie the game 38-all on a Gerald free throw with 10:14 remaining. After the Generals took a small four-point advantage, the Lady Builders tied it again and the score bounced back and forth for a few minutes before the Lady Builders took the lead for good 53-51 on a Gerald 3-pointer with 70 seconds left.
The Apprentice School (3-4) held Washington & Lee (2-6) scoreless over the last 2:07 for the victory. Freshman Tyisha Battle recorded her third double-double of the season with 11 points and a season-high 14 rebounds for the Lady Builders who will now take on Division II Mount Olive College on Wednesday night in Mount Olive, N.C.
