NORTHFIELD, VERMONT - Senior Tyechia Cooke scored 14 points and was named to the All-Tournament team while freshman Tyisha Battle had 14 points and a game-high seven rebounds as the Apprentice School lost 86-54 to St. Lawrence University in the finals of the Hockenbury Tournament at Norwich University.
The Saints, a New York region power and NCAA Division III Tournament participant, saw the Lady Builders tie the game 2-all on a Cooke jumper at the 18:42 mark. From then, St. Lawrence broke the game open with a 22-2 run for a 24-4 lead on an Amy Fortener jumper with 10:37 left.
St. Lawrence raced out to a 43-17 halftime advantage on the strength of smoking hot field goal shooting nailing 15-of-27 from the floor (55.6%), including 6-of-11 (54.5%) from 3-point range. In the second half, the Lady Builders got into the hot shooting range connecting on 15-of-29 from the field (51.7%), but the Saints continued hitting 50% from the floor (15-of-30).
Junior Rahshann Lewter added 11 points for Apprentice School (2-4) who will return to action on Thursday night with a matchup at Washington & Lee University.
