Lady Builders Open With 84-52 USCAA Win Over Southern Maine

SOUTH PORTLAND, MAINE -- Freshman Danita Whitaker started her collegiate career with a bang scoring 21 points and hauling in 12 rebounds coming off the bench as Apprentice School defeated Southern Maine CC 84-52 in a U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association matchup Friday night.

Whitaker paced four in double figures for the Lady Builders who hit 32-of-75 from the floor (42.7%) and outrebounded the Seawolves 48-35.  Sophomore Tysheka Simpson added 19 points hitting three 3-pointers, junior Tamara Davis added a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while sophomore Courtney Collins had 10 points and eight rebounds.

Apprentice School got out to a 41-23 lead at half and slowly worked the lead up to 35 points.  Southern Maine CC was paced by Christina Ricci and Ariel LeDuc with 14 points apiece.

The Lady Builders now travel north to Auburn, Maine to take on USCAA opponent Central Maine CC in the first of two straight games with the Mustangs.  Saturday's game will tip-off at 2 pm in Kirk Hall on the CMCC campus.
