Lady Builders Close 2010 With 64-52 Loss To Washington & Lee

NEWPORT NEWS, VA. – Sophomore Arynn Easom and junior Tamara Davis scored 15 points apiece as the Apprentice School Lady Builders closed out the 2010 portion of their schedule falling 64-52 to Washington & Lee on Thursday night.

The Lady Builders tied the game at 2-all on an Easom jumper 30 seconds into the contest, but the Generals answered at the 18 minute mark on a Meg Ingram 3-pointer to take a lead they would never relinquish.  Washington & Lee pushed the lead to 26-18 with 34 seconds left on a Kari Pfannenstein 3-pointer but Tysheka Simpson answered with the first 3-pointer of the game for Apprentice School to force a 26-21 halftime deficit.

In the second half, Apprentice School started with a 3-pointer from Jasmine Pringle to cut the lead to 26-24 with 19:18 left.  Washington & Lee then went on a 19-7 run over the next 6:57 to take its largest lead at 45-31 on a Pfannenstein jumper with 12:21 left.  The Lady Builders didn't go away quietly as they went on a 15-6 run over the next 5:59 to cut the deficit to 51-46 on a 3-pointer from Eason with 6:22 remaining.  From there, W&L scored the next six points and kept Apprentice School at arms length for the 64-52 win.

Davis missed a double-double with 15 points and a team-high nine rebounds, while Easom had three rebounds and two assists in 28 minutes of action.  The Lady Builders were out-rebounded 46-40 by W&L (5-2) who were paced by Katy Wilson with 16 points and nine rebounds.  Pfannenstein had 15 points and eight rebounds, while Ingram chipped in 13 points and six assists.

Apprentice School (7-4) will start 2011 with a January 5 home game against N.C. Wesleyan College at 6 pm.
