Lady Builders Topple Central Penn 80-37

MEDIA, PA. – Sophomore Courtney Collins scored a season-high 25 points and a game-high 12 rebounds as the Apprentice School defeated Central Penn College 80-37 in the opening round of the Penn State Brandywine Holiday Classic Friday night.

The win gave the Lady Builders a school-record 8-0 start to the season which breaks the school record set last year when the team went 7-0.

Apprentice School never trailed in the contest as Collins scored seven straight points in a near three minute span to push the Lady Builder advantage to 18-6 after a stickback with 11:58 left in the opening half.  Her seven straight points started a run for the Lady Builders of 24-4 over an 11 minute span which put them ahead 34-10 on a jumper from Martika Williams with three minutes left.

In the second half, Apprentice School used another 24-4 run to start the half as a Williams jumper from a Jasmine Pringle feed with 12:26 left gave them a 59-20 lead.

Collins was joined in double figures by Denise Hamilton with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Christina Licano was 4-for-4 from the floor and 2-for-2 from the line for 10 points and six assists.  The Lady Builders hit 45.2% from the floor (33-of-73) and held Central Penn to 14-of-59 shooting (23.7%) along with forcing 20 turnovers.

Apprentice School will close out the classic on Saturday afternoon facing the host Penn State Brandywine at 3 pm.
