Collins, Andrews Named USCAA Players Of The Week

The U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association Players of the Week were announced on Tuesday afternoon and the Apprentice School came away with two awards for the week ending December 18.

Sophomore Courtney Collins won her second straight honor after a 16 point, six rebounds and four steals outing as the Apprentice School extended its school-record season opening winning streak to 10 games with a 65-59 win over NCAA Division III Averett University.  For the year Collins, a Norfolk native and electrician apprentice, leads the team in scoring (15.9 ppg), free throw percentage (.700), second in field goal percentage (.512) and third in rebounds (6.6 rpg).

Junior Tevin Andrews was named the USCAA Men's Division I Co-Player Of The Week after averaging 27 points, 11 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3 steals in a pair of road victories as the men raised their record to 9-2 heading into the holidays.  Andrews, a Brundidge, AL native and rigger apprentice, scored 30 points with 13 rebounds, 4 blocks and 3 steals as the Builders defeated Barber-Scotia 72-69.  The next day he had 24 points and 11 rebounds as the Builders knocked off NCAA Division II Pfeiffer University 89-84.  He is second on the team in scoring (12.5 ppg), rebounding (8.0 rpg) and third in blocked shots (8).
