Lady Builders Lose First Game Of Season At Mount Olive 71-47

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. -- For the first time in the 2011-12 season, the Apprentice School Lady Builders fell as they lost at NCAA Division II Mount Olive 71-47 on Friday night.

The Lady Builders didnt score for nearly the first three minutes, but a Jasmine Pringle 3-pointer put Apprentice School (10-1) on the scoreboard only down 4-3.  That bucket started a 7-0 run for the Lady Builders as a Denise Hamilton layup put them ahead 7-4 at the 14:39 mark.

Teams traded the lead until a pair of Courtney Collins layups gave Apprentice School an 11-8 lead with 13:27 left.  Mount Olive went on a 17-3 run over the next 5:39 to lead 25-14 on a jumper from Andrea Jones with 7:48 left.

Apprentice School trimmed it to a 25-17 deficit on a layup from Christina Licano with 7:10 left before the Trojans scored 12 of the next 14 points to go up 37-19 on a Khalia Boston jumper with 1:43 left.

In the second half, Apprentice School scored the first five points to cut the deficit to 39-28 on a Pringle 3-pointer, but that was a s close as they got.

Collins was the leading scorer with 10 points, while Tamara Davis and Danita Whitaker nearly missed double-doubles as each had nine points and eight rebounds.  The Lady Builders are now off until January 8 when they start a five-game U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association homestand facing St. Joseph's-Brooklyn at 2 pm.
