The Apprentice School men's and women's basketball teams started the 2012 portion of their schedules ranked second in the latest U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association Coaches Polls announced on Monday afternoon.
On the men's side, the Builders have been second for the last three weeks in the rankings. Apprentice School (11-3) went 2-1 in the Ave Maria/USCAA Classic last weekend defeating Vermont Tech and Valor Christian while falling to the hosts who are ranked fifth in the current poll. The Builders will host Barber-Scotia and Williamson Trade this weekend in the Martin Luther King Classic as they'll face Barber-Scotia on Friday at 8 pm and Williamson at 4 pm on Sunday.
The Lady Builders (11-1) rebounded off their first loss prior to New Year's and defeated USCAA rival St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn 53-44 on Sunday. Apprentice School bumped up a spot from third to second in this poll after being in second since the second week. They'll also participate in the Martin Luther King Classic this weekend as they'll play three games. Friday night they'll also take on Barber-Scotia at 6 pm, then third-ranked Briarcliffe College at 6 pm on Saturday and ending with ninth-ranked Berkeley College (NY) on Sunday at 2 pm.
