Lady Builders Stumble In Season Opener 87-41 To Central Methodist

MCKEESPORT, PA. – Sophomore Shanae Hilliard scored 15 points and senior Jasmine Pringle added 10 as the Apprentice School Lady Builders opened their 2012-13 season losing 87-41 to NAIA Division II Central Methodist University (MO) in the Penn State Greater Allegheny USCAA Tipoff on Friday afternoon.

The Eagles soared early jumping out to a 14-3 lead on a 3-point play from Taylor Cornelison with 14:14 left in the half.  That lead grew to 24-6 as Jasmine Poteete hit a layup with just under 12 minutes left in the half.

Central Methodist shot the ball very well hitting 54.4% from the field (37-of-68) and drained seven 3-pointers to take their first win of the year.  Cornelison topped four in double figures with 16 points for CMU (2-0).

Apprentice School was 16-of-52 from the floor (30.8%) and were out-rebounded 43-23.  Junior Christina Licano was next in line with six points.  Hilliard added three steals, while junior April McCoy was the leading rebounder for the Lady Builders with eight.

The tournament will conclude on Saturday for the Lady Builders as they face another NAIA team in Carlow University for a 3 pm tip.
