Strong Second Half Lifts Lady Builders Over N.C. Wesleyan 65-56

ROCKY MOUNT, NC – A strong second half rally from the Apprentice School Lady Builders on Tuesday night pushed them to a 65-56 victory over N.C. Wesleyan College at Everett Gymnasium on the NCWC campus.

The Lady Builders, trailing 32-28 at half, shot 50% from the floor (15-of-30) and were a perfect 6-of-6 from the foul line to rally for the win.  A pair of buckets from Alijah Brown and Courtney Small put the Bishops up 36-28, but the Lady Builders went on a 12-3 run to take a 40-39 lead on an April McCoy jumper with 13:22 left.

After seeing the score tied twice over the next five plus minutes, the Bishops took their final lead on a Tiffany Bell 3-pointer with 7:39 left to lead 50-49.  A pair of McCoy free throws at the 6:29 mark started an 8-0 spurt which put Apprentice School ahead to stay.  Down the stretch, a pair of McCoy free throws with 30 seconds left and a pair of Jasmine Pringle free throws with 19 seconds left gave the Lady Builders the nine-point win.

McCoy turned in a double-double to lead Apprentice School with 19 points, 11 rebounds and three blocked shots.  Martika Williams added 12 points and two blocked shots, while Danita Whitaker had 11 points playing in her hometown.

The Lady Builders are now off until December 7-8 when they play in the Penn State Brandywine Classic in Media, PA.
