BRONX, NY – Sophomore Shane Hilliard scored a career high 25 points hitting five 3-pointers as the Apprentice School fell 65-61 on Sunday to Berkeley College in a U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association matchup.
Apprentice School held a 59-47 lead with 5:02 left on a Hilliard layup, but the Knights closed out the game on an 18-2 run. They took the lead for good on a layup from Aiyesha Brown with 95 seconds left. Apprentice School had a couple shots down the stretch but jumpers rimmed out and the Knights iced it with a pair of Janay Thomas free throws with four seconds left.
Jonea Cruz added 11 points and seven rebounds to lead the Lady Builders. Berkeley (7-4) was topped by Milan Germany with 26 points and 14 rebounds to lead three in double figures.
Apprentice School (5-10) returns to action on Friday night in the Martin Luther King Classic when they face Barber-Scotia College at 6 pm.
