ON THE COURT: Senior Courtney Collins matched her career high with 25 points as the Apprentice School rallied from a 15-point second half deficit to score a 78-76 overtime win over St. Andrews University on Wednesday night.
After an even first half, the Knights opened the second half on a 21-6 run to take a 57-42 lead with 11:51 left as Kayla Johnson hit a pair of free throws. The Lady Builders tied the game with nine seconds left 70-all on a 3-pointer from Shanae Hilliard. Each team had a chance in the final nine seconds but missed opportunities.
In the overtime, Karin Law put the hosts up 72-70 with a pair of free throws with 4:35 left. Hilliard struck again with a 3-pointer to give the Lady Builders a lead they wound not relinquish.
BEHIND THE BOXSCORE
- Danita Whitaker had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while April McCoy added 12 points and seven rebounds.
- Collins matched her career high of 25 points set on Dec. 9, 2011 against Central Penn College.
- The Lady Builders forced 26 turnovers and had 15 steals as Hilliard paced them in steals with four.
- From the floor, Apprentice School was 33-of-80 (41.2%) and were 4-of-8 from 3-point land (50%). On the foul line they were 8-of-13 (61.5%).
- St. Andrews had four in double figures paced by Law with 17. The hosts were 29-of-59 from the floor (49.2%), 2-of-5 from 3-point land (40%) and 16-of-25 from the foul line (64%). They out-rebounded Apprentice School 45-41.
OVERTIME – A RARE SPOT
- The overtime win on Wednesday night snapped a four-game losing skid in overtime games for the Lady Builders.
- They had not played an overtime game since Feb. 27, 2009 when they lost 63-60 to Robert Morris-Springfield.
- The last overtime win for the Lady Builders was almost nine years ago – Dec. 11, 2004 when they won at Juniata 77-74.

The Lady Builders will make a weekend swing through the USA South Athletic Conference starting on Saturday with a 2 pm tip at Greensboro College. On Sunday they'll face Ferrum College, preseason pick to win the conference, at 3 pm.
