The 2014 Apprentice School winter seasons return to action this weekend as all three teams are in action.
At 6 pm tonight, Apprentice School (7-3) will face Washington & Lee University (3-5) in Lexington, Va. The Generals lost their last game at Sewanee University 53-47 on Tuesday. The Lady Builders lead the all-time series 3-1 and lost the last meeting with W&L 64-52 on Dec. 30, 2010. Apprentice School is coming into the weekend after a 2-1 swing in northern Maine on Dec. 13-15.
On Saturday afternoon, they'll travel to Emory, Virginia to face the Wasps of Emory & Henry College. This will be the first-ever meeting with E&H who enters with a 2-8 record after splitting a pair of games in the Cruzin Classic in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. on Dec. 19-20.
The men's team will return to action on Saturday as they visit Washington, DC to face the University of the District of Columbia in a 3 pm tipoff. The Firebirds, a NCAA Division II member, enter with a 2-7 record after losing to New York Institute of Technology 104-67 on December 18. Apprentice School is 8-5 after losing 81-77 to Elizabeth City State on December 19.
Also returning to action this weekend is the wrestling team as they'll visit Waynesburg, PA. for the Waynesburg Invitational. Eleven schools will participate in the event headlined by regional powers Johns Hopkins University, College of Mt. St. Joseph's (OH) and a pair of NCAA Division II schools in Alderson Broaddus College and West Liberty University along with NCWA rival University of Maryland-Baltimore County.
