24-0 Run Leads Lady Builders Over Bennett For Win #20

ON THE COURT: Using a 24-0 run that covered the last ten minutes of the first half and first three of the second, the Apprentice School Lady Builders defeated Bennett College 68-25 on Wednesday night.

The Belles hung around in the first half and tied the game 10-all on a Quanisha Brown jumper with 10:21 left.  Kelsey Daniels hit a jumper at the 9:40 mark to start the 18-0 run that closed the first half for the Lady Builders.  Her jumper with 51 seconds left gave the final score of the first half for a 28-10 Apprentice School lead.  Daniels jumper with 17:12 left in the game was the closing mark in the 24-0 run as Apprentice School held a 34-10 lead. 

BEHIND THE BOXSCORE

  • Daniels was the leading scorer in the game with 18 points and eight rebounds to go with two blocked shots.
  • April McCoy chipped in 14 points, eight rebounds and five blocked shots.
  • Jessica Neighbors nearly had a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds to go with six steals.
  • Tia Brothers was the leading rebounder for the Lady Builders with 11.
  • For the game, the Lady Builders were 29-of-77 from the floor (37.7%) and held Bennett 11-of-61 from the floor (18%).
  • The win tonight marked the fifth time in the history of Lady Builder basketball that the team has had 20 wins in a season.
