Two Apprentice School Lady Builders were recognized on Tuesday night at the U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association All-American banquet held at Nemecolin Woodlands Resort.

Sophomore Kenya Wilkerson was named to the Honorable Mention All-American team, while senior teammate Brittanie Herriott was named to the All-Academic team.

Wilkerson has been a key player in the Lady Builders 21-4 record as she is fourth in the USCAA averaging just under five assists per game.  She is also ranked eighth in steals averaging over three per contest.  Wilkerson has had six games of seven or more assists topped by nine twice against Bennett College and USCAA Division II Tournament participant Berkeley College.  Her havoc on defense has forced 78 steals in 25 games, while having four games of six or more steals topped by nine against Maine-Presque Isle.

An electrician apprentice from Richmond, VA., Wilkerson averages just over eight points per game and scored a season high 20 against Berkeley College in early February.

Herriott is now a two-time All-Academic honoree by the USCAA.  To earn the award, a student-athlete must have a 3.5 or higher grade point average and be at least a sophomore eligibility.  She scored a season high 12 points in a home win over Briarcliffe College.  Herriott is a senior maintenance electrician apprentice from Virginia Beach.

Both basketball teams open play in the USCAA Championships on Wednesday as the Lady Builders face Rochester College at noon, while the men take on Rochester College at 5 pm.  Check out the USCAA Basketball Championship website for livestats, video feeds and all your tournament information.
