IN BRIEF: One of the most successful seasons in Lady Builder history came to a close on Friday afternoon as the Apprentice School fell 75-70 to Concordia College (AL) in the U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association National Semifinals.

ON THE COURT:

In a game that saw six ties and five lead changes, Concordia College rode a 22-point, 10-rebound performance from Tykeria Johnson to pace the Hornets to a 75-70 win over Apprentice School.

The Lady Builders jumped out early to a 14-7 lead on a Danita Whitaker jumper with 14:54 left.  Concordia roared back on the heels of a 12-1 run to take a 19-15 lead on a Lashay Lettingham pair of free throws with 9:04 left.

Whitaker hit a layup with 2:35 left to trim the lead to 30-27, but Concordia closed the half on a 7-0 run as Erica Ousley drained a 3-pointer for a 37-25 halftime advantage.

In the second half, the Lady Builders trailed 45-43 on a Julissa Riddick layup with 13:30 left but the Hornets responded with a 15-4 run over the ensuing 6:28 to lead 60-47 on a pair of Ousley free throws with 7:02 left.

That got the Lady Builders on a roll as they ripped off a 16-2 run of their own to take their final lead on a Christina Licano layup with 3:03 left to lead 63-62.  Concordia regained control and scored the next 10 points to lead 72-63 on a pair of Ousley free throws with 44 seconds left.

BEHIND THE BOXSCORE

• Kenya Wilkerson was the leading scorer with 17 points for Apprentice School.  She added five assists and a pair of steals in 38 minutes of action.
• April McCoy had 16 points and eight rebounds off the bench.
• Whitaker ended her career with a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds.
• The 22-5 record is the fifth most wins in school history.
