Apprentice School junior Kenya Wilkerson was named on Wednesday to the second team Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Association All-State College Division squad. The team consisted from all the non-NCAA Division I schools in the state.
Wilkerson, an electrician apprentice from Richmond, was a first team United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) All-American and was named to the USCAA All-Academic team. She averaged 12.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game this year for the Lady Builders who finished 14-12. In the USCAA she was second in assists (146) and fourth in steals (89).
She scored a career-high 27 points against Christopher Newport University and had seven games of at least five steals and eight games of at least seven assists. Wilkerson had a five-game stretch where she averaged just under 11 assists per game. Her career-best was 12 assists twice against St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn and St. Mary Of The Woods College.
Wilkerson is the first Lady Builder to be recognized by VaSID since the 2008-09 season as Rahshann Lewter was a second team selection and the seventh time a Lady Builder was honored since the 2000-01 season.
