Lady Builders Late Rally Falls Short in 72-71 Loss

The Lady Builders women's basketball team mounted a second-half rally but fell short in a 72-71 thriller against Randolph Macon. The Apprentice School trailed by 12 at the half but outscored the Yellow Jackets by 11 in the second half to close the gap but had a layup blocked in the final seconds of the game to have a two-game winning streak snapped.

ON THE COURT:

  • The Lady Builders had four players score in double figures with Ylexzis Traeger being the team's leading scorer for the fifth straight game with 16 points. Quanisha Bruce added 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for a double-double. Tyne Innocent scored 13 points off the bench and Latrice Washington contributed 12 points.
  • Apprentice School had 22 assists on 31 made baskets with Julissa Riddick dishing out a team-high six assists. Quanisha Bruce had five and Tyne Innocent added four.
  • The Lady Builders were outrebounded 49-37 and outscored 50-26 in the paint.
  • Defensively, the Lady Builders forced 26 turnovers and had 15 steals. The team scored 22 points off the turnovers.

The Apprentice School will take a break for the Thanksgiving holiday and return to action on Saturday, December 2 as they hit the road to face Virginia Wesleyan at 2 p.m. The team will host Bridgewater in their home opener on Saturday, December 9 at 2 p.m.
