NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Apprentice School women's basketball had four players score in double figures but it was not enough as they suffered a 76-68 loss to Clinton College on Tuesday evening.
ON THE COURT:
The two teams battled in a tough first half with the Lady Bears holding a one-point lead at the half. Both teams shot around 35% from the floor. Latrice Washington led the Lady Builders with 10 points in the first half. Despite having their leading scorer on the bench with foul trouble, Clinton used a strong third quarter to take a nine-point lead into the final quarter. The Lady Builders fought back in the fourth quarter retaking the lead 64-63 after a three-point play was converted by Jordan Wilson. The two teams traded buckets before the Lady Bears went on a 11-2 run in the final four minutes to clinch the victory.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:
- Four players scored in double-figures with Jordan Wilson and Latrice Washington leading the team with 16 points apiece.
- Aquazia Jones added 13 points while Alexis Wethington added 12 points for the Lady Builders.
- Jordan Wilson added 10 rebounds for a double-double.
- The Lady Builders forced 23 turnovers and scored 27 points off the miscues.
- Clinton won the battle on the boards with a 49-37 advantage and was led by Tiffany Reed, who grabbed 24 rebounds.
- The Lady Bears were led by Logan McDaniels, who had 19 points, despite missing the entire third quarter due to foul trouble.

The Lady Builders return to action with two road games this weekend. The Lady Builders will face Bridgewater on Friday night at 6 p.m. before facing Stratford in a rematch on Sunday afternoon. The Lady Builders took down Stratford 84-57 early in the season for their only victory of the season.
