Lady Builders Drop Road Contest

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Apprentice School women's basketball team could not overcome an early deficit as they dropped a road contest to Bridgewater College 85-66 on Friday evening.

ON THE COURT: 

The Lady Builders hung tight in the first half staying within seven points with the Eagles. The team shot around 40% from the floor and was led by Alexis Wethington's 10 first-half points as they trailed by six at the break. In the third quarter, the Lady Builders trailed 44-37 before Bridgewater went on an 18-0 run in the next seven minutes to push their lead to double-digits. The Eagles continued their strong second half as they saw their largest lead hit 27 points at one point in the fourth quarter.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:

  • The Lady Builders had five players score in double figures with Aquazia Jones leading the way with 16 points. She also added 12 rebounds and had a season-high five blocks.
  • Latrice Washington had 14 points and Sabre Clegg added 11 points off the bench.
  • Jordan Wilson added 10 points, eight rebounds and had a team-high five assists. She also added six steals in the game.
  • The Lady Builders were dominated in the paint with the Eagles holding a 44-24 margin in the paint. They forced 19 turnovers in the game with 10 steals.

UP NEXT:

The Lady Builders will look to return to their winning ways as they face Stratford on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. The two teams met earlier in the season with the Lady Builders grabbing their only victory of the season with an 84-57 win at home. Five players scored in double figures with Jordan Wilson leading the way with 20 points. Stratford is 2-4 on the season and plays Thomas Nelson CC on Saturday prior to facing the Lady Builders.
