NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Apprentice School women's basketball team fell 68-47 to Voorhees College on Saturday afternoon as part of the MLK Classic.
ON THE COURT: Shooting woes in the first half gave the Lady Builders a 17 point deficit at the break. The team shot 27% from the floor while the Tigers shot 43% from the floor. The Lady Builders had a more successful second half but the Tigers wore down the Lady Builders with their depth.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:
- The Lady Builders were led by Alexis Wethington, who had a team-high 15 points and nine rebounds.
- Aquazia Jones added 14 points and six boards.
- Sabre Clegg added 10 rebounds along with six points.
- The Lady Builders were outrebounded 46-40 and had 23 turnovers.
- Voorhees was led by Nijah Davis, who had a game-high 23 points.
The Lady Builders return to action on Sunday afternoon as they face Warren Wilson at 12 p.m.
