NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Lady Builders squandered a double-digit lead but regained their composure as they defeated Regent University 78-74 in an overtime thriller on Monday evening.
ON THE COURT: Leading by 13 points in the fourth quarter, the Lady Builders struggled from the floor in the final stanza allowing the Royals to climb back into the game and force overtime. The Lady Builders wore down the Royals in the overtime period to snag a four point overtime victory.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:
- Sabre Clegg led all scorers with 26 points and added 13 rebounds for a double-double.
- Aquazia Jones added 17 points. She came up just shy of a double-double with nine rebounds and added seven assists and six rebounds.
- Alexis Wethington contributed 15 points and 14 rebounds. She fell just shy of a triple-double with nine assists and had seven steals.
- Brittney Jones added 14 points for the Lady Builders.
- The Lady Builders shot 44% from the floor and had a 34-22 advantage in the paint.
- Regent was led by Jocelyn Reyes, who had 23 points.
The Lady Builders host Mid-Atlantic Christian in their home finale on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
