The Apprentice School traveled down to Miami, Florida for the Florida National University Beach Bash Classic, but they were unable to secure a victory. They were challenged in three games by NAIA opponents, losing to the host school, Florida National University and twice to the University of the Virgin Islands.
Game #1 vs. Florida National University:
The Lady Builders battled hard in the opening 20 minutes, but an athletic Conquistador basketball team was able to limit the visitor's to just 10 first-half points. The Apprentice School fought back in the second half, but the early deficit was too large to overcome. They ended up falling by a final score of 36-74. Latrice Washington and Aquazia Jones both contributed 12 points a piece.
Game #2 vs. University of the Virgin Islands:
Three Apprentice School women's basketball players reached double-figures, but it wasn't enough to take down the Lady Buccaneers who won by a score of 61-44. The Lady Builders started the game clicking on all cylinders, and finished the first quarter winning by a score of 18-8. Unfortunately, shots weren't falling at the same rate after that, and UVI was able to build a commanding lead late in the game. Latrice Washington played all 40 minutes and led the way with 13 points.
Game #3 vs. University of the Virgin Islands:
The Builders were given a chance at redemption and played their best game in a tightly contested rematch against UVI. Aquazia Jones had an all-around impressive performance scoring 20 points, grabbing 9 rebounds and had 5 steals. UVI was able to use a strong second quarter to gain some separation from the Builders and they ended up winning by a final score of 53-42.
